Nas - Illmatic promo

Awesome video capturing the the essence and behind the scenes production of Nas' classic debut album Illmatic. To hear the inspiration and reasoning behind the tracks and beats by the people who created them is truely amazing, enjoy!

"Everybody make money out here. Try to get somewhere, everybody getting arrested, shot at, beat up... (pause) Im just doing my own thing."

Phil Jones

Sorry for the lack of updates and thereof I've been super busy as of late. I just started my third spring semester at The Beach, pretty hard to believe it's already been three years... As I type this I'm watching the Metrix for the first time on AMC. Yes I know I'm incredibly late... a good decade late haha. As I finish this film, which I must say has already proven to have gripped my attention and imagination I want to leave you all with an interesting piece enititled "Argyle Crocodile" by Phil Jones.

p.s. I have a couple surprise projects in the works including interviews with a few international clothing companies and a independent local rapper/artist, definitely good stuff to come shortly. Stay blessed.

Abstinence Project

I was going to write my own summary for the following, but they said it best...

p.s. I wouldn't mind having one of those posters on one of my office's walls, haha.
"Check out the Abstinence Project, a series of posters and t-shirts designed by Californian firm Gridnik Creative in an effort to combat teen pregnancy. The United States leads the entire western world with teen pregnancy hovering around 30%, so this kind of design conscious approach is welcomed. Using the classic Helvetica man figure, Gridnik has illustrated some fun, safe alternatives to unprotected sex."

Man of Moons

If you didn't already know I have an affixiation for Japanese fashion brands. And this is why.
"the most important discovery from now on could only be done by those who could listen to the voices within and lisen to others and other living creatures from their hearts to trees, birds, animals, insects, fishes, forests, seas, deserts and skies..."

For more info on the brand be sure to check out MofM (man of moods).

Unfaithful

"The bottles, found in several grocery stores, displayed "Unfaithful" rather than the usual "Focus" message. Obviously, they were fakes; this isn't the kind of collectors' edition that a company generally manufactures. Gatorade naturally issued a statement distancing itself from these creations.

In fact, investigators have determined that the labels are the work of a guerrilla artist in the vein of the infamous British graffiti artist Banksy, making a satirical point by targeting our most precious resources: our celebrities and our consumer goods... And yes, the mysterious unnamed artist could be facing product-tampering charges."

Silver Lake with Bobby

I know it's been a few days but I finally got around to buying myself a usb memory card reader with my paycheck. With that being said here are some pictures of my last trip down to Silver Lake/Fairfax/Melrose that I took with Bobby.

Side note: As I was driving I noticed some very familiar graffiti pieces to my left, turns out they were some murals painted by an artist named CACHE whom my friend Maricela had actually introduced me to some time ago. Funny how things work out that way...
